Native to the town of Barceloneta, in the Caribbean island, Puerto Rico. Youngest of 12 brothers and sisters but influenced mostly by two of her siblings, Elias and Daisy. Painting her first mural at an adolescent age in one of her sister’s house, using oil paint on a 8ft x 10ft wall. After finding out how much she enjoyed painting the mural, she decided to paint another at her mom’s house with almost same dimensions. Moved to Delaware in February 2003 with her four daughters. She then begins to draw everything she sees, drawing up to ten a week, out of curiosity getting better and better, evolving into painting in no time. She decides to refine her God-given gift with the “Art Instruction Schools” in which she received the “Blue Ribbon Art Award” within a year. Fascinated by the art, she began reading the history of the old and contemporary artist alike. With further studying she liked and became influenced by the Rembrandt Teacher in the way he captured movement and life in his realistic paintings. She has learned to use and like almost all types of paint like, acrylic, oil and watercolor. Overall, she has been self-taught and all of her works are original. Miriam has been exposed in different galleries like, she has four paintings in the Gallery and Factory Miguel Angel in the metropolitan area of Puerto Rico and in Dover, Delaware. Miriam I. Marzán is eager to learn all she can and knows that she is just starting her career.
